Types of Hearing Tests for Children Who May Have a Hearing Impairment
I perform various Hearing Tests to find the best audiological solution for your child who may or may not have a hearing Impairment and if so, how best to treat it.
Behavioural Hearing Tests: These tests are designed to get a response from your child through their hand gestures, pictures, games and/or verbally.
There are various ways through my specialised audiological equipment that I use for newborns or babies who can’t respond reliably to Behavioural Testing. There are three tests which can be performed: a small loudspeaker is used together with a microphone (Otoacoustic Emissions), click sounds are played through ear phones (Auditory Brainstem Response) and finally with a specialised instrument which blows a gentle puff of air into the ear (Acoustic Immittance testing / Tympanometry).
